FUTURE TENDER OPPORTUNITY – Expression of Interest for the Provision of Prefabricated Residential Housing, State-wide

To address the State Government’s investment and priority to see as many Western Australians as possible in safe, secure and sustainable homes, an Expression of Interest for a Prefabricated Residential Housing Builders’ Panel, State-wide is being established.

An urgent need to supply social housing is driving the need to procure modular dwellings for immediate construction and installation at various sites across Western Australia.  This situation has arisen due to a culmination of escalating factors, including:

o             rental and social housing demand pressures arising from the COVID 19 pandemic, lockdowns and shifting population flows;

o             traditional construction supply chain and labour shortages arising from supply chains disrupted by the COVID 19 pandemic; and

o             the Department's traditional builders facing difficulties in the current circumstances to deliver pre-planned program schedules under traditional construction methodologies.

Accordingly, the Department is forced to look to alternative construction methodologies to meet critical social housing needs.  Given the supply shocks continuing to be experienced in the construction industry, this need is increasingly urgent and immediate.
