Evolution Mining sets net zero target

Evolution Mining has joined gold rival Newcrest Mining in setting a target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.  The company said the target would be preceded by an aim to reduce scope one and two emissions by 30 per cent by 2030.

Evolution said achieving the company’s target would involve partnerships with industry, government and supply chains to focus on low-emission solutions, technology roadmaps to support efficiency improvements, carbon reduction planning and improved transparency in reporting on its performance.  Jack Klein, Chairman of Evolution said that Evolution had always put environmental and social concerns at the forefront of it’s operations.

“Now we’re publicly committing to bolder, more tangible action as we align our business with the transition to net zero: he said.

Evolution’s biggest gold rival Newcrest Mining set a similar target last month.
