Edge of the Bay Festival
Taking place on Saturday 4 December from 10am – 9.00pm at the Youth Precinct on the Esplanade near the Scout Hall, the Edge of the Bay Festival is a youth focused, inclusive community event catering to both locals and visitors.
The Battle of the Bay is back! With most skate, scooter and BMX competitions cancelled this year, the Battle of the Bay is expected to attract competitors and spectators from across the state. It’ll be a great opportunity for our home-grown talent to test themselves against the best in WA. Make sure you’re down there at 9.30am to register. Luke and the team from Soggybones will also be back to judge the action and treat us to their expert commentary on every trick.
Of course, it wouldn’t be our Edge of the Bay Festival if without a huge market and activity contingent. You can look forward to almost 60 different stall holders, vendors and community groups. Glitterful face painting with Born to Sparkle, a new coffee van, the chance to test drive an electric vehicle with the WA Branch of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association, the climbing wall run by Esperance Scouts, as well as bouncy castles, lazer tag, food vendors, drumming, arts and crafts, clothing, gifts and homewares, business displays and more, will all be on offer. The market area will be located in the carpark by the Scout Hall this year, with the construction of the Pump Track now underway.
When you want to kick back at the end of the day head down to the music stage and bar area, open from 3.30pm. The Esperance Distillery Co will be a new presence this year, offering their gold medal, local botanical gin alongside the Lucky Bay Brewing bar serving their award winning beers. Musical entertainment starts at 6pm when Michael Day and his band get on stage with their alt-folk raw, authentic sound. Energy will be high from 7pm thanks to Mitchell Martin and his five piece band pumping out their dynamic original tunes, then the sweet sunkissed strains of indie pop group Dulcie will waft over the scene to round the evening and another great Edge of the Bay Festival off.
