REDs boost for Goldfields-Esperance businesses, training

Five Goldfields-Esperance projects will receive funding to expand and diversify business operations under round four of the McGowan Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants.  Round four of the Goldfields-Esperance RED Grants will support five Goldfields-Esperance projects to deliver training, boost production and access new markets.

Australian Potash Limited will receive a $250,000 grant to establish the Laverton Training Centre to provide vocational training programs and employment pathways for local Aboriginal people in the Northern Goldfields.  Seas It All Pty Ltd will receive $200,000 to create two fully accessible, customised holiday apartments to cater for the growing accessible tourism market in Esperance.

Goldfields Machining, a Kalgoorlie-Boulder based machining business, secured $75,000 to purchase a hydraulic cylinder repair bench to enable on-site diagnostic and repair services on large-scale cylinders, which previously required transportation to Perth. Yirri Grove Olive Oil in Esperance will boost their paddock-to-plate visitor experience with a $60,000 grant to expand their production area, increase restaurant capacity and plant more olive trees to support future demand.

Finally the Shire of Dundas, in partnership with Ngadju Traditional Owners and local mining companies, will use its $200,000 grant to establish a new timber industry, using waste timber from mine site clearing as a saleable product.

 

RED Grants Program – Round Four is now OPEN

Minister for Regional Development, the Hon. Alannah MacTiernan MLC, has announced the opening of Round Four of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program for the Goldfields-Esperance Region.  The RED Grants program is a WA State Government initiative that invests in locally driven projects to stimulate economic growth and development in regional Western Australia with funding of up to $250,000 for an individual project.

The objectives of the RED Grants program include:

• Sustainable jobs
• Developing skills or capabilities
• Attracting new investment in the region
• Expanding or diversifying industry
• Increasing productivity
