Lefroy extends Kambalda gold-copper system
ASX-listed junior explorer Lefroy Exploration looks to have extended its promising Burns copper-gold prospect near Kambalda in Western Australia’s Goldfields region after receiving the initial 128 assay results from a maiden 8000 metre 199-hole aircore drill program. The company says the results continue to enhance the mounting belief it has a substantial intrusion related mineral system over a 2000 metre corridor and believes the findings add weight to its targeting process.
Lefroy says the data indicates the gold-bearing eastern porphyry is continuing to grow in size. The explorer is now awaiting assays for an additional four drill traverses to the north of the high-grade intersections. Meanwhile, at the Lovejoy magnetic target about 2000m northwest of Burns, Lefroy has delivered a suite of promising results from a wide-spaced drilling program that struck a diorite porphyry similar to that of the Burns prospect. The inaugural operation at Lovejoy was aimed at testing various magnetic anomalies beneath Lake Randall.
The Burns copper-gold prospect sits some 50 kilometres south-east of Kalgoorlie in the company’s Eastern Lefroy tenement package and forms part of its larger Lefroy gold project. The prospect borders the eastern rim of an enormous interpreted felsic intrusion that Lefroy has named the Burns intrusion. Intrusion related gold deposits are one of the most recent major mineralised systems to be discovered and boast serious potential.
Tender for Proposed Worker Accommodation Village project
The Shire of Coolgardie opened tender submissions on 12 November 2021 for installation works for the proposed Worker Accommodation Village in Kambalda. The tender will seek quotes for site preparation, bulk earthworks, power, water, plumbing and ancillary works at the Kambalda site.
The tender is a component of the total process to ensure that all necessary information is before Council to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the proposed Accommodation Village in Kambalda. The submission period for the business plans has now closed.
The Shire acknowledges the receipt of the submissions which are currently being assessed by Shire staff. The submissions will be considered by Council in their decision making and deliberations on the business plans for the accommodation villages. The tender, business plans, potential agreements and potential supply of villages will be considered at a proposed Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 14th December.

Mincor raises $60 million to fund nickel exploration
Mincor Resources has completed a $60 million placement to fund an exploration ramp-up at its Golden Mile nickel asset and construction of accommodation at the Cassini nickel mine, both in Western Australia.
Mincor managing director David Southam said the capital was already being put to use.
“$15 million has been earmarked for exploration, particularly in light of the success we have enjoyed recently with underground drilling at the Golden Mile, where we have two rigs operating, and surface drilling at location one where a diamond rig is operating,” Southam said.
A further $15 million will go towards a new, purpose-built Mincor-owned accommodation facility just 10 kilometres from Cassini. Along with the necessary infrastructure for transport and power, Southam said this development would enable Mincor to become the strong, independent business it knew it could be.
“This is consistent with our view that Cassini will be a long-term operation that requires appropriate long-term infrastructure,” Southam said.
“It will also eliminate the need for us to continue to use a third-party operated camp in Kambalda for Cassini operations, reduce commute times, and provide important health and safety benefits for our workforce – ensuring we can continue to attract the best people to work for us.”
The new accommodation facility for Cassini with replace the need for staff to travel the 70 kilometres to and from Kambalda.
